No matter what financial challenges you are having, adding a little Holiday decor to your home can give your family a boost of feel good energy.
Here are 3 areas of your home that will have you falling in love with the holidays.
1. Shelves. Wither its the entertainment center, kitchen shelf, entry way, or coffee table there is always a good rule that will guide you through decorating. Odd numbers and varying heights. Items on a shelf should total 1, 3, or 5. It gives a perfect combination of items with a focal point and supporting pieces. Varying heights can be described as short, medium, tall or earth, sky, heaven. The combination of these two rules give an intentional non-cluttered look.
2. Dining Room/Kitchen Table. Simple touches added to your existing table setting can give a sophisticated look for less. Finding the chargers at the dollar store is a steal, especially when then can run $5-$10 a piece as some stores. Here you can get 8 to cover your full setting. You can also buy a couple to use as a base for a centerpiece or display on a shelf. The dollar store also has ceramic or metal tiny pumpkins that make for great centerpiece on your place setting or addition to your shelves.
Pull out the items you currently have, table runner, plates, and other decor. Decide your color scheme, and select items that will compliment the items you have on hand. Now your table is ready for hosting!
3. Mantle or Gallery Wall
The best addition to any home is family pictures. For the month of October, you can find a pumpkin patch at many churches around town. Take your family to a pumpkin patch and snap plenty of photos on your phone. You can take your phone to any drugstore that has a Kodak photo center. You can download the app or bring your cords and print pictures for less than a $1 a piece. The dollar store sells plenty of photo frames or you can be more creative with your display. You can place your pictures in mini wreaths and suspend them on the wall with ribbon or stand them on mantle with gold easels. Yes, all that is found at the dollar store!
All for the cost of a pumpkin spice latte you can fill your home with the warmth of fall. So stop by the dollar store on the way home, put pumpkin bread in the oven and invite your friends over. Tell them to bring the pumpkin spice latte's!
